Staff Electrical Engineer / Scientist

Vista Clara is seeking a full time self-motivated BS or MS level graduate with 0-5 years prior experience in electrical engineering or a related field such as physics or geophysics.

This position provides opportunities to participate in the growth of a dynamic and focused environmental technology firm, performing innovative applied research in a variety of challenging areas including laboratory R&D, electronics design, software programming and geophysical field services for advanced nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) geophysical instruments.

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Develop and test advanced low frequency NMR sensor electronics for geophysical applications.  Specific areas of interest include the design of very low-noise receive electronics (audio to low RF bands), and the development of high-performance and rugged NMR power electronics for geophysical applications.
• Transition new NMR instrument designs to commercial geophysical products and services.
• Develop and integrate system software to control NMR instruments.
• Assist in field-testing and geophysical field services, including geophysical data collection and customer training.

Preferred Skill Set

• Analog electronics design and printed circuit board layout.
• Proficiency with Labview and Matlab software packages.
• Some ability or experience in hands-on testing, trouble-shooting and problem solving.
• Capability to organize and manage complex engineering and product development tasks.
• Interest and/or experience in geoscience and groundwater hydrology.

Additional Requirements

• Must possess outstanding verbal and written communications skills.
• Able to work outside in all weather conditions and be able to lift up to 50 lbs. 
• Some domestic and international travel is required.
